A bachelor nowadays, however, could get away real easy without a washing machine, why..with all the new convenient who-needs-real-laundry products (read: Febreeze, Dryel, and Downy Wrinkle-Releaser).
That and men's philosophy with clothing is that nothing you are wearing is dirty until you take it off, therefore wearing it several consecutive days doesn't constitute any given item as un-clean.
Real charming...like I said, thank god I am a woman.
